With early years of daily practice through passion honing his skills at home, DJ LOGIKAL was the First High School Student in New Zealand to convince his teachers to allow him to use " Turntables as a Musical Instrument " at High School for his 5th Form "School Certificate" (NCEA) Subject: Music Performance, pushing the boundaries of the National Education System, it was here whilst a kid at school DJ LOGIKAL recorded his first ever songs, and could be found throughout the school day in the Music Room "Studying" (Jamming) instead of being present in other curricular classes.
DJ LOGIKAL stepped on the scene Releasing his own Scratch Songs to Radio in 2000 and became a familiar face among the New Zealand Hip Hop Elite performing regularly both sides of the Tasman (New Zealand & Australia), leading on to be recruited as Personal Tour DJ for King Kapisi, Blindspott, Dubious Brothers, Dei Hamo, K'Lee, MC Hammer, Kiki Smooth (CPT) and Representing for Major International Brands & Sponsors such as Ecko Unltd, Red Bull, XBOX, Globe, Oakley, Boost Mobile & Serato.
Commonly regarded as one of the countries top Performers, DJ LOGIKAL's talent and knowledge is widely recognised, hence called upon from all areas of the Music Industry at home and abroad not only for his DJ skills and ability to rock a Live Crowd, but also for his Original Music Productions working with Artists, Labels and Brands Globally in the Studio as well as behind the scenes in a Consulting role.
Releasing his first commercial Music Video in 2002 at the fresh young age of 16 for his scratch single “Verbally Decapitating”, the song hit the NZ bNet Radio Charts claiming the #1 spot for many consecutive weeks, with the Music Video going on to Win a Kodak Music Clip Award in 2003 for Best Editor, and was included in "What Now's" Top 10 Music Videos of the year.
The same year DJ LOGIKAL was nominated for "Most Promising New Act" at the 2002 bNet Music Awards.
Continuing to Produce his own Creations, and studio tracks for International Artists, Brands, Advertising Campaigns, hosting Live Radio Mix Shows and Competing in DJ Battles, the years of 2002/2003/2004/2005/2006 it was hard not to see or hear of DJ LOGIKAL in the press/media of NZ and Australia, stamping his name on the scene for decades to come inspiring the next generation of Kiwi DJs and Turntablists.
As a notable Artist in the Music Industry, 2003 saw DJ LOGIKAL approached by Coca-Cola to be the frontman for their newest creation Sprite Remix, to "Rethink, Refresh, ReMix" their classic soft drink.
DJ LOGIKAL scratched on & co-produced the music for the New Zealand TV Commercial as well as starring in the Commercial & Featured in the surrounding press-release, which was a re-make of the American TV Commercial which starred their local favorites at the time, Biz Markie, Pharrell Williams, The Neptunes, and P-Diddy.. 2004 DJ LOGIKAL was selected to enter the Heineken "Found @ Thirst" DJ Competition after being invited to submit an original track, going on to Win the Auckland Finals and competing in the New Zealand Finals spinning his own song which was pressed to Vinyl and required to be incorporated into his winning Open Format DJ set of Mixed Genres using Vinyl spinning Hip Hop, Rock and Drum & Bass. The NZ Finals were Judged by Pete Tong & Tiësto.
From starting his on-air radio show days with Auckland's bFM hosting graveyard shifts, moving to afternoon 2pm - 4pm program radio shows, and learning the ropes of specialist live-to-air mix shows alongside P-Money as part of the weekly 7pm "True School Hip Hop Show" (2000-2004),
DJ LOGIKAL stepped into the realm of Commercial Radio (2004-2007) joining THE EDGE 94.2 FM with a 3hr Live Mix Show every Saturday night alongside co-host Brooke Howard-Smith to an audience of 566,000 Weekly FM Radio Listeners Nationwide, Mixing and Mashing up Popular Chart Hits live from the Main Studio HQ while listeners would call in to request songs on the spot.
2004 was also the same year DJ LOGIKAL became part of the 3x Platinum Selling alternative metal band Blindspott (2004 - 2007).
DJ LOGIKAL joined the band full time on stage performing scratches, dropping samples & playing keyboards (Strings) for songs off Blindspott's Self Titled Album at live shows which included a nationwide tour of Japan with U.S Band The Used, multiple shows throughout N.Z plus performing the Main Stage of the Big Day Out Music Festival to a live audience of 50,000 people.
In 2006 it was announced DJ LOGIKAL had been publicly Nominated for New Zealand's Best DJ at the Urban Music Awards in Sydney Australia, with the awards ceremony being presented by DJ Jazzy Jeff and Kurtis Blow held at Sydney's Homebush State Sports Centre.
Between 2007 & 2017 DJ LOGIKAL continued producing & performing in multiple countries including U.S.A, England, Scotland, Turkey, Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Amsterdam, France & Australia, where his Studios are now based on the Gold Coast of Australia, as of July 2017.
Openly passing on his Knowledge, Experience and Collaborating with others, DJ LOGIKAL regularly welcomes like-minded creatives from around the globe to his Studio (In-Person and Online Sessions), as well as inspiring and training the next generation of DJs, Producers, and Turntablists, continuing the community comradery in the music scene and stepping back to when DJ LOGIKAL was a Special Guest Industry Tutor at the Red Bull Studio during 2003 and 2004.
